Frederik: A Revolutionary Beer Bottle Design

Unveiling Sisecam Design Center's Innovative Creation for Tuborg

After receiving a brief from Tuborg, the Sisecam Design Team drew inspiration from a variety of sources. The Tuborg logo, potential user profiles, and the art of Leonardo da Vinci all played a role in shaping the design. The team also considered the fun aspect of beer festivals and traditional elements. The result is a design that truly changes the way beer is seen.

The Frederik collection is unique in its design. The key feature is its rounded edged rectangular section, both at the neck and main body of the bottle, a new perspective for pressurized beverages. This innovative design was born after a detailed design project that lasted about 1.5 years.

The design process involved rigorous testing and evaluation. The vertical load, impact, and inner pressure tests were applied and approved on 3D data with Ansys Analyzing Program. After Tuborg preapproved the design, the team focused on the embossment detail. After three presentations within three months and 14 different details around one year, Tuborg agreed on the present design. The trials and production process continued for about half a year more with blow and blow glass production technology.

The bottle design project started in September 2015 in Istanbul and finished in April 2017. The product was filled in Izmir and was released on the market through exclusive cafes and restaurants in Istanbul at the end of 2017. The Frederik collection has been recognized for its innovation, winning the Golden A' Packaging Design Award in 2018.
